Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition
Hazlewood and his blazing symphony orchestra Excellent Device! showcase this masterpiece of Russian Romanticism, with improvised responses from The All Star Collective.

Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture
Performed by the Scrapheap Orchestra, an orchestra of instruments made entirely from recycled materials.

Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells
Charles Hazlewood’s All Star Collective featuring Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory and Portishead’s Adrian Utley, and other special guests come together in a rare live ‘super group’ performance of this 70s classic, preceded by the psychedelic masterwork which inspired it A Rainbow in Curved Air by Terry Riley.

Orchestra in a Field will set Somerset ablaze next summer with a colourful and eclectic programme offering something for everyone. Held in the sweeping parklands of Glastonbury Abbey, with its romantic ruins, drifts of wild flowers, and ancient orchards, this unique event is the inspiration of award-winning conductor, Charles Hazlewood.

Orchestra in a Field is a festival like no other. A kaleidoscopic tour of the world’s best music, from Tchaikovsky to Tubular Bells by way of trip hop, opera and scrap – all in a stunning natural setting in the ancient heart of Somerset.
